Lots to unveil this cold morning in January. Officially ten below zero as I peeked into the chicken coop and hoped for the best. We have adopted the method of forcing all nine hens and their hard working rooster to sleep together in one coop for body heat. All seems well for now, although it’s the cumulative cold that takes the toll on them. Their combs can get frostbite. No end in sight for the single digits. Say a quick prayer for the Ruins Flock if the spirit moves you.

Once a year, I head out to California to film a mosaic learning experience with the brilliant folks at Mosaic Arts Online. It has become an annual expedition, really my only travel in this life of Ruins stewardship. Not much extricates me from the mission of the Ruins story, so filming at MAO is peak adventure for me.
