This "piece" (writing piece...) is EVERYTHING. Thank you for articulating it all so perfectly, Rachel. I love the part about noticing - and collecting - objects that catch your eye but for which you do not yet know the purpose. I have been doing this unconsciously for years and now....I shall do it consciously. In my studio I have a postcard print of a beautiful piece of art that bears the words, "THERE ARE MANY BEAUTIFUL THINGS." I've had it tacked up on my studio wall like a mantra.

Everything gets deeper and deeper. Oh my, what a beautiful description of a so complicated process... a poem, a song. I heard the hammer and the cuts through all this words as drums in the background, and the water too. You took my imagination and made it travel in time and space. Thank you Rachel.

A deep one. 🥲

Today, Advent Sunday #3….I just joined The Ruins Project. This article on Becoming A Mosaic Artist is long awaited for my hungry artist soul. I am a nurse by trade, but a “wanna be artist” most of my life. During the pandemic I discovered and nurtured mosaic art, and have done a few pieces, taken a few classes, gathered tools, ideas, photos, books…and now The Ruins…. Thank you for so eloquently writing the thoughts that will one day become a published book. I too, will continue to gather literal elements from around my world that call me to nurture and see it’s beauty, as well as the things from my life, where nothing is wasted, all is meant to be used for beauty, for stories.

It may take the rest of your life! This statement made me be a little less forgiving of myself and my mosaic journey. Great piece!
