This is soooo GOOD Rachel. I can understand exactly how you felt when you said “How does a girl make dinner after having just solved the problem of building a mosaic about a metaphysical portal to another time? “ (sounds like you need a labyrinth)I also tried to escape the avalanche through less healthy means, but found writing- much like doing mosaic- really gives me clarity- channels some of that ‘mania’ into organization of ideas onto paper-and best of all you don’t have to “grout it in”!(yet😉)

It may be one of my favorite lines; the metaphysical to dinner line. And yes, paper and tesserae are so helpful in organizing the ideas. thank you Maria!

I thought A-LOT more about this one - because it truly describes me too - with variations on obsessions..

I'm a decade or so older than you and I've come to TRY to prioritize my energy and resources to what I think I can accomplish in this lifetime. I do have physical limitations that others may not have (yet), but being able to think "through" all the things I still want to create in those terms helps me start and finish a project.

I work solo. That's my path. Your global tribe is a part of your lifetime achievement 🧚🏽

This has been inhabiting my brain, Rachel.

How does one explain that they’re a bit smelly, laundry is in piles, dinner is another weird concoction of refrigerator detritus, there’s no milk or bread and you don’t know when you last dusted the 1/4” that coats everything?

Oh, it’s another mosaic project that has possessed my brain

This feels like a midwifing of a birth that wants, no, needs to happen, in many, many humans. Thank you for being so on fire with your process and having the capacity to share that fire. I love and relate to the difficulty of cooking dinner after having opened a portal into another dimension !!!!!!

Yes, how does one come down from the euphoria of the creative high to deal with mere mortal dinner making ! Soooo resonates with me! Glad to know I am not alone here. 😅😅 I find yoga helpful not just for calming but clarity as I slow myself and think and breathe. I also find while ruminating on the Big 1 ( or two, cause y'a know) I make smalls. Currently churning out puppy paws while chewing on how to work forward on two larger projects. I still get to feed the creative yearning, but not force work that isn't yet ready.
