Wow! This is a story I'll go back to many times and share as I constantly share news of The Ruins. And I remember the Factory. I was there just one time and was in awe.
I was there the day you spoke those three words, “Smutz has smalti!” I well remember the ecstatic light in your eyes, and Eddie’s determination to make it yours.
The FORT was a fun and short chapter in your mosaic evolution. We transformed that charming little house and garden! The 3 of us labored hard and quick and then you found your PLACE. The FORT was history! You were drawn to that little brick house in Whitsett the very first time you saw it. I believe somehow you knew before you knew.
THE RUINS were waiting for your return to Fayette County. ♥️
Such a wonderful story, Rachel!
Thank you, Laura.

So well said, mama. You were there for so much of The Fort!
Smalti has genealogy. I love this story, Rachel!
What a delicious story! Running into that much smalti, having a sorting party, I can feel the joy and delight from the details.
Another incredible story! But it was meant to happen
see you soon
If SAMA conference would ever be here in PGH - that’s a definite place to see.
The Cantini mosaics are def worth tracking down.
Thanks Rachel, for completing a truly amazing story I knew very little about, and one that adds soo much more to a wonderfilled gift! ❤️
Just an excellent post, Rachel. Your writing has always been good, but I swear, you’re getting better and better!
