I miss grass! I moved to the south end of the Las Vegas valley 2 and a half years ago from lush green grassy central Texas. I miss grass and am tired of tiny rocks in all the yards. Except Miss Lottie down the street who planted REAL grass in a section of her sloping front yard. She told me I could bring my dogs and sit in her front yard any time. What an oasis! That is where I touch grass at 5:30am when it is still cool. Can’t do that later in the day since our temps are up to 110 degrees. But that morning grass is a luxury!
Miss Lottie is the definition of a good neighbor! We find the grass where and when we can, I guess. Thank you for sharing your landscape description. So different from here!
My absolute favorite place to touch grass is at the country “Somewhere Texas” which is the title of this mosaic done and a simple memorial day weekend workshop with Ariana Gallo and Anita Pillotti
Touch the grass! We are need to keep that in mind! I like the new web page. I explain The Ruins to people all the time and I usually say I am so proud to be a small part of a world community of mosaic artists that are preserving history with mosaic art. You described it perfectly!
It does my heart good that we share the same slim place orbits. Leif has been planting Milo in the lower orchards. And silly me reached out and touched the screen while watching your grass.. it was wonderful. I like the new opening page. Carry on, you beacon of beautiful brilliant heart felt light.
Haha, I almost wrote “short sorghum “.. we are in New Mexico for our rotational time. We leave for Hawaii July 2nd. Oh, and there is cane grass there.. a constant battle of the 7’ clumping monster.

Thank you for writing this. Such a nice read.
I am so grateful that I got to ‘touch the grass’ today at the Ruins Project with you. What a special moment.
It was very mutual.

I had to look up what Milo was! If I ever get to Hawaii, I will touch your grass, dear Leslie! Thanks for taking the time to read the about page. xo
